Why is the Art Bus RETIRED!?
It’s been a slow process, but quicker than it was tackling the 38ft Art Bus! So I opted to invest in a smaller mobile studio for a couple of reasons. 1) Its way easier to drive now…Yall the stress that came over me to make sure my tail end was hitting the curves right in a 38ft dragon was a nightmare! 2) I had many residents wanting to book on the art bus, but some areas it was too tight of a fit to park and turn around. Especially at the beach for some of our vacationers.
The Creative Cruiser drives so great! Now at night time its definitely hard to see still, but maybe adding some new lights would spruce her up! I had help driving her from South Caroline back to Defuniak, but she lasted! Another reasoning behind investing in this particular box truck was that it already had all the needed elements of a comfy space. If you remember stepping on the art bus for an event or party..lets say in the summer time..you remember it was hot as hell! I didn’t have AC and we tried for years to find the right power source and roof top units…that we could actually afford. Well once we did find such items we ran into them not working right. I was exhausted with trying to make it work. I even stopped booking summer parties on the bus. Now the Cruiser came with an already built in AC unit with quiet generator that runs for hours!! The lights were bright and the space was big enough to still host in!
I know a lot of people may be disappointed in seeing the Art Bus retire, I know it breaks my heart. However, I’m starting a new adventure and chapter, which is exciting! Its like adding another art baby to the crew!
The Art Bus is stationary in Defuniak Springs next to Roll Out Sushi on a little plot. As of right now, I’m hosting random pop ups on her, but soon she maybe fully retired. She runs great and is in great condition! Ryan Arnold maybe taking over her shell and turning her into a Tiny Home to resell! Nothing is for certain, but I’ll make sure to keep you up to date!
